General Information

Q: Who is the Director at ODDS and how long have they been there?
A: Theresa Zick has served as Director for over 10 years and has been a part of the Charlottesville community for over 15 years.

Q: Does ODDS provide snacks and/or lunches?
A: Parents are asked to provide their children with a morning and afternoon snack in addition to a lunch. ODDS does not provide snacks or lunches. Parents are also asked to label their child’s lunchbox with their child’s name and the current date.

Q: What food items should I pack for snack/lunch?
A: We recommend a main food dish (sandwich, pasta, etc.) coupled with fruits and vegetables. A list of starting food ideas can be found here, and we ask that all snacks and lunches are ready-to-eat as soon as they are taken out of the lunchbox.

Q: Is the center a religious institution? A: Doctrine is not incorporated into the program. However, a voluntary grace is said before both snack and lunch.

Q: What kind of staff does ODDS employ?
A: Old Dominion Day School employs long-term staff, many of whom possess degrees and/or certificates in early childhood education.

Q: What is the accreditation of Old Dominion Day School?
A: The center is accredited by the International Accreditation of Child Care Education Programming and Teaching (IACCEPT).

Q: Where can I find center closings/delays for holidays or inclement weather?
A: Closings and delays due to weather are listed on the Home Page of the website coupled with parent text messages and local news/radio alerts. A full list of holiday closings can be found under the Calendar section.
