At Old Dominion Day School, we strive to help every child bring out the best in themselves. Teachers promote both academic and social growth through play-based learning while encouraging their children to become more independent and creative as they grow. Our goal is to ensure each child is provided with an opportunity to learn and express themselves everyday so they feel comfortable and excited to attend kindergarten after graduation.
Ages and Classrooms
Old Dominion Day School serves children from 6 weeks to 5 years and 11 months. Our center offers a total of five classes:
Infants (ages 6 weeks - 16 months)
Toddlers (ages 16 - 24 months)
Two’s (ages 24 - 36 months)
Three’s (ages 3 - 4 years)
Junior Kindergarten (ages 4 - 5 years)
We strive to serve our children the freshest and healthiest food options. Meals are prepared on site everyday with an emphasis on local and organic fruits and vegetables. Lunches include both fruit and vegetable groups coupled with a protein and/or pasta. Snacks are offered in the morning and afternoon, and meals are served with water and milk. Our center is also dedicated to providing whole grain and low sugar foods. Special allergies or sensitivities can be accommodated upon request.
As one of the oldest childcare centers in Charlottesville, Old Dominion Day School has served the community for over 40 years, and we are always looking forward to new faces coming through our door. Our facility is licensed through the Virginia Department of Social Services. All staff members are First-Aid and CPR certified in case of emergency.
